
There are foreign residents from nearly 70 different countries living in Midori-ku. Midori
International Lounge supports both foreign residents and Japanese residents to have
comfortable life in Midori-ku. Midori International Lounge provides consultation services,
Japanese language classes, cultural exchange events, etc. Please feel free to visit us.
What we do
Consultation Services
We provide foreign residents with information on daily life and respond to requests for consultation and inquiries.
We dispatch volunteer interpreters to administrative institutions such as public elementary
and junior high schools and ward office.
Information Giving Services
We provide “Living Guide” in easy Japanese and other languages.
Japanese Language Classes for Foreign Residents
Volunteers provide support for learning Japanese, starting with daily conversation.
We will help you find Japanese language classes in Midori-ku.
Study Support for Children
Volunteer groups in Midori-ku support Japanese and academic achievement for elementary
and junior high school students whose native or first language is not Japanese. We will help
you find educational support classes in Midori-ku.
Cultural Events and Lecture Support
Many people with different languages, cultures and customs live in Midori Ward. We aim to be a multicultural society where we can live together while recognizing diversity and building
equal relationships. For that reason, we hold lectures, study sessions, and events for
international exchange that anyone can easily participate in.

Meeting Room
The Midori International Lounge has a meeting room that is open free of charge to groups in Midori-ku that are engaged in activities such as supporting foreign residents, international
exchange, and international cooperation, in order to support their activities.
※Group registration is required to use the meeting room.

※1 slot per day basically. Can be booked consecutively when used for a course etc.
・How to Book
(1) Reservations are accepted on a first-come, first-served basis by phone or at the counter
from 9:30 am on the first day of the second month before the month of use. If the day falls
on a holiday, reservations will be accepted on the following day.
(2) For reservations, applicants are required to submit an application form. If you make a
reservation by phone, please submit the application form by the day of use.
(3) One time slot can be reserved for one session.

NPO Management
The Midori International Lounge was set up at Nakayama of Midori Ward on Mar. of 2021 as
11th lounge in Yokohama city with an aim to enhance mutual understanding between NPO
organization MiMCA and Japanese volunteers who living in area of Midori Ward by offering
helpful information and organizing various events for the international friendship and
Multicultural coexistence under Yokohama City Government’s consignment.
